The rapture: What does the Bible say?

THE RAPTURE
I CORINTHIANS 15: 51- 53
51) Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep,(which is to be deceased) but we shall all be changed, 52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the last trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we (who are alive) shall be changed. 53) For this corruptible (the flesh body, which is susceptible to decay, or corruption) must put on incorruption (the eternal spiritual body), and this mortal must put on immortality.

THE MYSTERY OF GOD
REVELATION 10: 7
But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel (with the trumpet), when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he has declared to his servants the prophets.

THE SEVENTH TRUMP
REVELATION 11:15-19
15) And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. 16) And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshiped God, 17) Saying, We give Thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which is, and was, and is to come; because you have taken to you your great power, and hast reigned. 18) And the nations were angry, and your wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that you should give reward to your servants the prophets, and to the saints, and to them that fear your name, small and great: and should destroy them which destroy the earth. 19) And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

I THESSALONIANS 4:16-17

16) For the LORD Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17) Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the LORD in the air: and so shall we be with the LORD.
THE WORD RAPTURE

For the 1500 years before the english translation of the Bible was written, there was the latin vulgate. In the vulgate, the word used for caught up was rapio (or rapiemur or raptus depending on the declension,) which is where we get our word Rapture.
