The Rapture study III

The voice of the archangel IS the trump of God.

In I Thessalonians 4:16 we read “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

I’ve been confronted with the idea that the trump of God and the voice of the archangel are two different things. This ultimately attempts to imply that the seventh trump is not the location of the rapture, so it’s well worth our time to look into that notion. I want to show why they are one in the same.

Many people may point to the word and in the phrase “the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God” to show that they are separate, but in the KJV things can be joined with the conjunction ‘and’ yet be the very same thing. For instance Galatians 1:4 says “according to the will of God and our Father:” Now no one would argue that God is our Father, yet here they are joined with the conjunction ‘and’. Other examples of this same usage can be found in Ephesians 1:3, 4:6, 5:20, Colossians 1:3, 2:2, 3:17, I Thessalonians 3:11, and I Peter 1:3.

Next I want to take a look at the things that accompany God’s very presence; lightnings, thunderings, and voices. All of these can be seen in the following passages; please also note that each of these passages deal with God’s Temple, or his Throne (which is in His Temple), Revelation 4:5, 7:5, 8:1-6, 11:15-19, (this is the seventh trump) , and 16:17-21. Now take a look at the giving of the law in Exodus chapter 20. Exodus 20:18, God has just given the law, “And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.” So here we find the trumpet standing in the place of the voices. Does this mean that they are the same thing, or that the one has been substituted for the other? Well now look at Exodus 19:16, just before the giving of the law, “And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.” It seems quite clear to me that these are two descriptive words for the same thing, the voice of the arch angel IS the trump of God.

Furthermore, the same Greek word is used in I Corinthians 15:52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” as is used in I Thessalonians 4:16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:” and Revelation 8:6, “And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.” the Greek word #4536, sal-penks.
