Proverbs 25:6-7

2/17/2009 D.E. (dated experience) 02 Proverbs 25: 6-7

While reading through the proverbs I came across these two verses, which read, "6) Put not forth yourself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men: 7) For better it is that it be said unto you, come up here; than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince whom your eyes have seen."

This reminded me of the story that Jesus told, about the marriage supper, and how we should not sit down in one of the upper rooms, lest we be called to a lower seat to make room for a better guest. I wanted to write a note in my Bible to connect the two verses, but after two days of searching for it I finally gave up trying to find it on my own. I then turned to God in prayer. I told him that I was at my wits end, and needed his help. In that very instant the word 'abased' popped in my head, so I looked it up in my Strong's concordance, and found the passage, it is Luke 14: 8-11.

Once I finally found the passage, I realized that the reference was already listed in the center column notes
in my Bible. A laugh was heard through out the room.
